Due to my PS2 is been flipped over by me, I had to cease all the ps2 gaming for a period and I were addicted to Odin Sphere (a game from the same creator) back then, now I managed to get one from my friend…

Grim Grimoire is a Platform RTS (real time strategy) game, instead of the 3D RTS game what we used to (i.e. Warcraft 3, command & conquer that veiw from above) its 2d based which gives you a twist to the RTS genre; personally I fell in love with this game when I first saw it.

We follow our heroine Lillet Blan: a young female sorceress who recently arrive the Silver Star tower to become a great sorceress, she spent her first 4 days meeting different classmates and professors but on the 5th day’s night something bad happened, Lillet facing death infront her eyes at the very last moment everything turns into black, when she come to it shes in her room again, confused Lillet experienced the exactly same thing that happened first day at her room, worried Lillet gets what going on. In order to prevent the incident that happened on the 5th day she told headmaster about it, but in the end she wasn’t able to stop it at 5th day, met the same fate, she magically time traveled back to the first day again…

Story reveals different person’s background each time Lillet go back to the first night and experience those 5 short days… when will she success preventing the event and who will her depends on to help her? Time is running out…

Game play involved 4 different magical races:
Glamour, involved with fairies and elves and magical creatures.

Necromancy, involved ghost and skeletons.

Sorcery, involved demons and dragons.

Alchemy, involved artificial life and Golems

Each race has its advantage and disadvantage against different race, its like stone paper scissors game: Glamour -> Necro -> Sorcery -> Alchemy -> Glmaour.

By summoning a rune (source building to the different unit) each race has 3 different rune and 5 upgrades, (you get more runes as you continue the main story) each upgrade gives you ability summon new unit or to boost your units and unit ability. summon workers that can gather resource called mana from crystal gives you more resource to summon more unit, powerful unit that cost a lot resource isn’t always good… just keep that in mind.

Despite from the main story that you follow, each time you pass a point in main story a bonus mission will be available to challenge your skill as a RTS player. It has nothing to do with main story but it involved a series of different mission that can be defending a point for amount of time to use limited resources and defeat enemy. (This is what im trying to complete atm)

The events in grimoire is well made, feating dynamic avatar movements that makes the characters alive instead what we used from most the games only using a static avatar.

This is the first day from the game.

The only thing I dislike from the game is coordinating units and controlling, well its unavoidable since you can’t have a good view of the map from side, and you can only select 1 type of unit up to 10 each at once, so the more unit you have the harder for you to commence an attack but in the other hand if you’re be able to handle it you can gain atvantage aswell for having different units. Despite from that this game is a worth try it out.
